The 1999 Beach Soccer World Cup was the fifth edition of the Beach Soccer World Championships which saw Brazil win their fifth title in a row. This year was the first time that 12 teams would compete for the cup. The tournament continued to take place in Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Organisation

The organisation for the 1999 world cup was completely different to previous years. The teams that competed was exended to 12 teams. They were split into 4 groups of 3 teams with the top 2 teams progressing to the quarter finals.

From the 12 teams, 4 teams came from Europe, 3 teams came from South America including the hosts Brazil, 2 teams from North America, 2 teams from Asia and for the first time ever 1 team from Africa.
